A beautifully decorated cake has always been a very important part of any wedding celebration, Carefully hand-picked by the couple mostly to show off its beauty and make no mistake the bigger the cake, all the better – first it’s carefully placed in the reception area to tower above all the other wedding decorations, then when the time comes it is cut by the newlyweds and later enjoyed by the rest of the guests as desert, but have you ever wondered about the importance of the wedding cake and exactly what it symbolizes? Turns out there’s something very sacred about the wedding cake as in ancient times, before the sugar and frills, it signified the bride’s purity and later broken into pieces and strewn over the bride’s head to indicate the husband’s dominance over her. Well, I don’t know about you, but considering the strenuous amount of hours you brides-to-be spend on hair and make-up we’re quite happy that tradition didn’t last very long! Phew! One thing we are happy about though is the sweet fact that today there are so many variety, colors, shapes and sizes of cakes to choose from and as wedding photographers dare we say we’ve come across them all! Below are some of these delicacies we were fortunate to capture. Indulge!
